PLI Ministry Moments

One of my favorite hymns is I, the Lord of Sea and Sky.

1.  “I, the Lord of sea and sky,  I have heard My people cry.

All who dwell in deep–est sin  My hand will save.

I, who made the stars of night,  I will make their dark–ness bright

Who will bear My light to them?   Whom shall I send?”

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard You call–ing in the night.

I will go, lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your peo–ple in my heart.

2.  “I, the Lord of snow and rain,  I have borne My people’s pain.

I have wept for love of them.  They turn a–way.

I will break their hearts of stone,  give them hearts for love a–lone.

I will speak My Word to them.  Whom shall I send?”              Refrain

3.  “I, the Lord of wind and flame,  I will tend the poor and lame.

I will set a feast for them.  My hand will save.

Fin–est bread I will pro–vide  till their hearts be sat–is–fied.

I will give My life to them.  Whom shall I send?”                     Refrain

It is one of my favorite songs because it is and has been my prayer for quite sometime. I ask God just about every day to “Send Me”. I know He is calling me to go out and share what He has for everyone. He has sent His Son to die and rise again so we ALL can have eternal life. This is something to share with the World, not to be kept for ourselves. It is not something that should be for a select few to share or to be kept for a certain “group” of people.

Jesus came to tell everyone He met that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. It wasn’t about glorifying himself, it was about the gift that His Father sent Him to be. On Maundy Thursday, He washed His disciple’s feet. After He finished washing their feet (the job of a servant) He asked them “Do you understand what I have done for you?” He told them “I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you should also wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” He told them “no servant is greater than the master, nor is a messenger greater that the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them”.

The entire account is in John 13, Jesus gave us an example to follow, are we following it? There are days when I get caught up in myself, and my own concerns, that I forget that He has asked me to “wash” feet, to be a servant. I need to remind myself that I am here and I need to be sent, daily. I need to do what He has done, I need to follow His example.

In HIS service,
