PLI Ministry Moments January 2019

PLI Ministry MomentsThis month I want to talk about where we are going as Christians.

When Jesus gave His disciples the Great Commission in Matthew 28, that commission was not just for them, it was for us too. He fulfilled His promise of dying and rising again for our sins. He gave us the most precious gift of all: Eternal life with Him.

He asks us to follow these instructions: “Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw Him they worshiped Him, but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” Matthew 28: 16-20.

It is difficult to know what we can do, especially as we get older, but Jesus has all authority in Heaven and on Earth and He has given us the commanded us to GO, TELL, SHARE with every nation, everyone we meet. This is a privilege and honor. He is not telling us to do it alone, but He promises that He will be with us always. This is exciting, frightening, and a real honor to serve Him in all we say and do. We need to serve others, we need to share what we have with those who don’t know Him.

We have been blessed beyond expectation, and we need to do all we can to serve Him and love Him and others. It is not always easy, but it is certainly worth it. Maybe we can’t do all that we used to do when we were younger, however think about what you can do. Prayer, calling shut ins on the phone, a smile and a hello to a stranger in the grocery store, a short note to someone you know who may be struggling with something, not being critical, being supportive. Accept what others are doing as their gift, encourage them by letting them know you appreciate them.

Join our new Missional Community coming sometime in January. Love one another as He loves us.

I do appreciate your feedback on the articles presented in the newsletter. I hope they have been helpful

I have received comments from several people and it is funny how articles affect different people. One month someone loves what I wrote and another person has a completely different reaction. I hope you will each take what is needed for you. Wishing each of you a blessed New Year and God’s blessing. Debbie Oatman
